Cover legs with bandage

After an intense workout, a common regenerative treatment for the horse’s legs is to cover the legs with a bandage.
Please note that the bandage should not slide but should also not hinder blood flow. So what you should pay particular attention to when bandaging a horse’s legs?

  1. Before applying a warming compress make sure that the horse’s skin and hair are clean in the place where you want to apply the preparation.
  2. Apply the preparation by gently rubbing it into the skin. Massage the joints and tendons.
  3. Before bandaging place a pad made of breathable material under the bandage.
  4. Wrap the pad around the horse’s legs covering the leg from the fetlock to over the carpal joint.
  5. Start bandaging and remember that you should do it in the same direction in which the pad was wrapped.
  6. Wrapping should be started from the top and then move gradually towards the bottom. Be sure to leave a gap so that the horse could bend its leg.
  7. You should apply subsequent sections of the bandage on each other, making sure that none of them stick out of the remaining ones.
  8. 8. You should end wrapping over the fetlock and secure it with velcro tape
  9. 9. Remember that the bandage with the pad should be tight enough so that they would not turn, but also gently enough not to impede the free flow of blood.
  10. Polar bandages and velcro tapes collect everything that appears around them, so be careful of straw, sand, etc. being careful not to use dirty bandages.

For bandaging we recommend using Black Horse warming liniment THERMO EFFECT.

Prior to its use you should read the label and if in doubt seek a more experienced rider or veterinarian.
